Thrust Roller Bearings

Overview

DGBB

Available with cylindrical, tapered, and spherical rollers, thrust roller bearings sustain only axial loads. NMT’s thrust roller bearings are suitable for heavy loads and offer high axial rigidity. Machined brass cages are used as standard.

Thrust tapered roller bearings come in two types: the TT type, which has a flange on the housing washer (outer ring), and the TTF type, which does not. The TT type is suitable when it can be securely fixed in the radial direction, while the TTF type tolerates slight misalignment that occurs between the shaft and housing during operation.

Thrust spherical roller bearings contain convex rollers that make them self-aligning and unaffected by mounting error and shaft deflection. The E-type offers a high load capacity design with a pressed steel cage.

Product List

Cylindrical roller thrust bearings can only receive axial load, but support high-load applications and offer high axial rigidity. Cages are typically made of machined brass.

Features

  • High load capacity/high rigidity
Designed with a simple structure that provides high axial load capacity and rigidity.
  • Ideal for low speeds
Though they are not suited for high speeds due to differential sliding of the rollers, cylindrical roller thrust bearings have a compact, cage-guided design.

Applications

  • Rotary work tables for machine tools, powdering machine rotary tables, extruders

Tapered roller thrust bearings come in two types: TT and TTF.
TT bearings have a rib on the housing washer and can accurately guide the shaft in the radial direction.
Conversely, TTF bearings have no rib on the housing washer and can tolerate some eccentricity during operation.

Spherical roller thrust bearings are self-aligning, making them unaffected by mounting errors and shaft deflection. The E-type uses an even higher load capacity design featuring a pressed steel cage. We recommend machined brass cages for horizontal shafts and high-speed applications.

As these bearings have many parts that are hard to reach with grease, oil lubrication is used even at low speeds. Cages are typically made from machined brass.

Features

  • Correct for misalignment
The spherical raceway surface of the housing washer makes spherical roller bearings self-aligning.
  • High load capacity
Spherical roller bearings offer high axial load capacity, with some capacity for radial load when axial load is applied.

Applications

  • Air preheaters, extruders, injection molders, excavators, cranes

FAQs

answers Loads are defined by their direction. Loads perpendicular to the shaft are called radial loads and loads parallel to the shaft are called axial (thrust) loads.

answers While DGBBs can handle axial loads in both directions, single-row angular contact ball bearings can only receive axial load in one direction.

answers Seals and shields offer additional protection for bearing components and help to improve and maintain lubrication. In terms of sealing performance, sealed bearings rank best, followed by shielded bearings, then finally open bearings.
NMT uses supplementary designations D, DU, DW, and V (DD, DDU, DDW, VV) for sealed bearings and Z (ZZ) for shielded bearings. No supplementary designations are listed for open bearings.
